• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ditch the 07 TE510 for an 09 TE 310?

Husqvarna
AA Class
Well,

I have the itch for a new bike. Did not ride much last year due to work and my wife and I pooping out a young one. I really want to start getting back into racing HS and enduros on a regular. In the one HS i rode last the 510 last year was a bear compared to my old 300exc. I have been thinking that a 310 would be more a good move? I am on the east coast and ride C class now.

I love the 510 when trail riding, but I found myself wanting a more nimble /lighter ride after I finished throwing-up in my helmet after the race due to exhaustion and wussyness. ( I was actually in pretty good racing shape wich p_ssed me off even more.)

Would I LOVE the 310 or would I missed the muscle and grunt of the 510? Going to the 450 is not an option.

Any opinions?

BTW - I have unintentionally gained the wife's baby weight over the last year that she lost. 6'3 265lbs (my weight, not hers). I imagine I will be able to drop to 250lbs by May when I plan on buying the bike (if there are any left).

I would keep the 510 for now. Pick up a cheap 2 stroke for woods and hare scrambles. I am betting that 2010 is going to be a big improvement with the new motor in the TE model.

What is the weight difference between a 310 and a 510?

Do I know beans about the 310? No. But I was in your shoes last year, and sold the 510 for a new TXC. I'd probably second what Swampds said. Keep the 510 for fun riding. You'll miss it when it's gone, and pick up a cheap racer.

I love my TXC250 for racing enduro and HS, it's better at that than the 510 in every way. The 250 fits me perfectly, but I'm only 160.

I miss the 510 power for general trail riding...especially in sand. Yes, it was a bear to race.
