• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I decided that I wanted to go all out with my plate mount removal...The result is as follows

The tail light is from a ZX6R. Factory illumination quality and a DOT label. It is mounted with some Ace Hardware corner straps, which just to happened to position the light perfectly. Used more hangers to mount the plate to the bracket that came with the tail light. It just so happened to also fit perfectly to a plate mount I had from an old Husaberg. Last, and most scary part was to hack up the fender. The plastic the old light and plate mount to all had to go. The last bits I need are some of those LED plate bolts for some white light and some small bolt on reflectors. Anyone have any leads on either?

I used reflective tape that I got at the local auto parts store. Legal? Got me. But I put one on the bottom of the plate and some on the sides so all angles were covered.

damn man your bike is clean. whats wierd is my plastic fork guard is black. yours is white and we have the same color bike. love the pipe.

I bought white ones :) Felt it was necessary, and only cost like 20 bucks. If you want to do the same, just get the tail light and I can come by and show you what needs to be done.

Looks good, those of us with SMS's don't have to worry about taking out the plate with the tire quite as much as with a TE.
I got rid of the stalk signals and went with some tiny ones that I'm less likely to snap off with a boot. I chopped the rest of the tail off and fabbed a mount that bolts to what's left over.

Looks good but I would have been tempted to fit the that tail light upside down so it fits the curvature of the underside of the fender. I must post pic of mine ... even more minamalist ;) it has integrated turn signals so nothing pushing out the side at all.

Not a bad idea, I might give it a try, but I don't think till fit close enough to really make a difference. And since I'm in lovely Kommiefornia, mounting it back within the wheel well isn't looked kindly on by the law.

Ok so here is a tail pic of my rear! Small oval LED with integrated turn signals fits perfectly under fender along with plate bracket at good angle.
