  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Did I cook my 05' TC250? (video)

Hello Husky gurus!

I ran my 2005 TC250 pretty hard today on the mx track...I did 35 laps in about 2.5 hours...broken into 4 sessions. It started making a little "whiney" noise on the last lap. After watching the video and hearing it...I went out and checked my coolant. Popped the cap and couldn't see any...tipped the bike a little towards the hole...still didn't see any! Oh crap! I grabbed my jug of engine ice and started to pour...it really didn't take much and was back up.

So it ran low...I'm guessing I just got it too hot and it puked out some coolant...and then started whining about it. What sort of damage might have been done? I hope I'm over reacting but that noise can't be good.

If you get a chance...have a listen between 2:53 and 2:57 in the video and tell me what you think. It makes it more after as well.
Appreciate it!

I am thinking you might be okay. You're down at the lower end of the power band- meaning you're not bouncing off the rev limiter. Did you ever smell coolant or oil?

Total coolant capacity might be around a quart.

I didn't smell anything and I didn't notice any difference in power at the time. When I tipped the jug of coolant it only took a second and it was overflowing...so I don't think it lost much. I took a pic of the jug before and after to get an idea of how much coolant I lost. Although some of it ended up on the ground as it overfilled:

Thanks Trenchcoat!

I think Trenchcoat is correct (he usually is BTW). However, I would change out the oil and inspect for any foreign bits just to be sure.

While that would be the smart move...I just changed the oil before this ride. The Husky calls for 10w60 oil...that Motul 7100 is priced like it's liquid gold at $15 a quart. I'm leaning towards relying on the 3...yes 3...oil filters the Husky has to catch any bits...lol
