    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

a mate is keen on his desert riding, he is also keen on old xr 500's :rolleyes: he was complaining about the steering, suspension and general handling of the big girl in the sand and said he would be keen on a 2 banger but couldn't figure out what to do... I suggested a milky bar kid 430 with his 500 motor grafted in.

ive seen a few on this forum and im wondering if anyone has actually done it and what's required?
 
the frame he is looking at has no motor and we are talking a one eyed Honda man thru and thru...wont ride my bike.... but he is a good project man and he recognises the early husky's ability in the sand and the fact that you can put a big tank on them. he has done well in the aussie safari many moons ago so loves his big desert rides. he is fast...
 
hmm, well im sure you could make it work...weird hes that fast and loves riding in the desert and wont even ride a husky.
 
Honda man thru and thru..... they are out there. he actually rode a xc 500 back in the day that was poorly prepped and had no brakes when his then cr 250 Honda had a disk so he has had a bad experience.... but..he does recognise the husky frames ability in the sand and this has him thinking....
