    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

hello everyone, just picked up an 08 sm610 not long ago with 340 miles on it. this is my first motard, and ive been out of dirtbikes for years, but have a garage full of buells and a few other bikes. anyway, ive been out doing what your suppose to do with a tard... riding it hard, and apparently somewhere along the way both rim left side lips got dented, front and back.

now its not horrible, still holds air and no vibs or anything, but i really havent hit anything to hard. no high speed curb jumps or anything. so i have to say im fairly worried about being to hard on the poor thing. i havent even gotten warmed up yet as far as im concerned. still breaking in the motor. im harder on my street bikes then i have been on this yet.

so i guess im wondering about a heavier duty outer rim? or if it was just a fluke? or if i need to run alot more tire pressure then is recommended for this bike if i plan on going over much stuff.

where would be a good deal on rim parts? i work at an Buell/Hd dealer and see i can get some excel replacement outers through parts unlimited(which allows me a dealer discount...) but im unsure if they will be even lighter duty pieces? i can have one of my guys here relace the wheels for me, so thats why i figured id go the new outer route.

on top of that i was also considering doing the outers in gold and those outers seem to only be available in black or silver.

or i thought about picking up another set of rims, and running the more agressive set of dual sport tires on these rims and my street tires on a new set, but it appears they are pretty expensive too.

maybe you hit something harder than you realized because the suspension soaked up the hit. It's a tough bike, it'll be ok.
 
ya, i know it will get banged up, but ive noticed almost no one makes an outer rim for these bikes because of the way the spokes are done. husky wants $350 a piece for outers! heck i found some warp 9 rims with bearings, rotors and a sprocket for 900 a pair...
 
both my wheels have a slight dent since. its where the rim is flash welded together. due to it being aluminum they warp during the welding process. sure they can do a better job. but im sure the manufacture figured its a supermoto. who gives a crap
 
believe me these are not manufacture dents lol. and just because its a motard doesnt mean i dont give a crap!
 
When you sort this out and have new rims, I would be interested in your old dented ones. I'm thinking about doing a trad set up on the TE and don't want to spent a lot of scratch. Let me know. Thanks and good luck!
