  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
A Class
Well..owned this bike for a couple weeks now. Thought I would get a few rides
in before introducing myself and providing my thoughts on the bike.

I've been riding for most of my life..(more than 1/2 a century)..that sounds old..LOL
Mostly trails and some hare scrambles. Owned lots of bikes. Can't think of a
brand I haven't owned. The last Husky was a late 80's 2 stroke. Can't remember
what it was but it wasn't very good..IMO..especially compared to todays machines.
Not knocking Husky..most of the bikes I've owned were old pieces of ****. Mostly
because of my financial limitations and just needing to provide for the family.

Anyway..this being my first near new bike.. I and very pleased. Handles very well,
good power, love the electric start and kick stand. Everything seems suited to
my riding style. Of course reliability is yet to be determined.

What I don't like (but can live with) is..low end throttle response "jerky". I tend
to clutch it quite a bit in tight first gear single track. It could use a wide ratio
transmission. I already geared it down for tight woods..but that leaves the gears a
bit to close. (again..no big deal). And the oil drain bolt with the hose attached.. .
Who's idea was that  .

Overall..very satisfied with the bike..time will tell on the durability. I have yet to
find anything to match the toughness of the 06 YZ125 and 08 YZ250F. Hopefully,
I won't have to come on here to much and bug you guys with........................
my ______ that won't work...whats wrong with it ?

Appreciate the site. I will contribute if I have anything to offer...Heres a pic...

set up the breather hose arrangement like the TC250 that hose bib plug is a silly oil overflow return-EPA stuff. Also supposedly the 2013 has a mag oil drain plug (mine is off a 2012 TC and not a mag plug), Ill get one of those for mine soon. Mine is a 2011 TE310 in full race (2012 TXC310 spec) so its your bike heavier, with more hours , lights and a CA plate. Remember 900c of oil= change it often, its full on short stroke racing motor.

John01..yes, I picked it up from Harold.

robertaccio...I searched for the drain plug mod you mentioned. Couldn't find anything.
Do you have a link.

Thanks

That was Harolds bike wasn't it? it was selling for around $4,400. Just picked up his last 2012 today. Going to have to see about this low end hit that everyone is having trouble with. He told me he loved the bike.

I've picked up two bikes from Harold. Awesome prices and I'm kinda glad I don't live closer to his shop; or I'd be broke. I'm 4 hrs min away from his shop. Connor congrats on your new TXC310, look forward to a ride report once things thaw out.

This is a 310 not a 250 imho don't plug the overflow line. There has been some discussion on this topic and before plugging it think about what it's doing. It's there to allow oil to return back to the oil pan. If you plug it that means oil won't have a path to return. Think about what's gonna happen to that trapped oil even if its only small mounts.

You are correct according to George (Uptite). We talked a little bit about how it all is meant to work.

I've added a few items and thought I would share. Below is the head light. I bought it from Halls on their recommendation.
It looks like it was made for the bike. Its a Moose and works well. Thanks to Halls for knowing what works and looks good.
I'll add some photos of the switch/mirror and tailight later. They are all wired thru an on/off switch.
