  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

deep scratch in shock

So havent been riding much these days but my 2009 te510 has had blown fork seals on both sides for a while. I tried to replace myself but they leaked again.

finally took out the forks and went to bike shop and found a nasty cut in one. guy said I need a new bottom half of the shock since its to deep to buff out.

The part is almost $600, so with part and new seals im like $800+ dollars.

Any idea where I can get a used lower half of the 50mm marzock?

Or would it be worth getting new shocks altogether? kyb?

sounds super ghetto but im going to be in the middle of no where all winter and no shops to fix. kinda thinking about just adding more oil and getting a shock sock and letting the leaking oil drip out the bottom instead of flying all over my legs so I can still explore with it all winter.

Just thinking the bike will still run fine and take me anywhere just front suspension will suck and leak. dont think it can be any worse since ive been rising with leaky forks for the last 2 years anyways.

Call ZipTy racing, they'll have what you need.

I'd be on the hunt for a used lower also- I'd imagine da bay has some out there. Now I'll be the first to admit I don't know a thing about fork repairs (other than minor scratches can be buffed out) but I'd be surprised if there weren't shops out there who do some type of fill in/re-surfacing...might be worth Googling a bit. I feel for you on expensive repairs- I'm in the midst of an unplanned rebuild on my low mileage bike that's going to set me back about 1600. :( Good luck.

What side do you need?

I gave one to Drew Smith last year and I might still have the other side.

Let's see if it the side you need.
