• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

D-908 RR Tire

Back when I first put tis tire on I really hated it, it was hard to find traction off road, was rough riding and the rear end never felt planted at higher speeds. The only good things I could say for it at the time was that it cornered better on the street with a much more predictable slide in the corners than most DOT knobbies and that the stiff side walls were so heavy you could probably run with no air in it if you had two rim locks.
Well 1500 miles later I have learned to adapt to the tire a bit and have a few more good things to say about it. It still looks new after 1500 miles, much of which has been hwy. miles and we know how hard that is on knobbies. If you run the tire pressure at about 9 lbs. it does OK in the dirt and loose stuff and so far as confirming that you literally can run it flat, yep you can. I just did quick once over on the bike because I noticed that it was getting kinda squirmy at higher speeds on the hwy. so I thought I would check all the normal thaings like steering head bearings linkage and swing arm bushings ect. and when I got to checking the tire tire pressure the front was a bit low but the back had zero-zip-nada.You wouldn't know it by pushing on the tire, it felt like it might have been overinflated but the gauge doesn't lie. Not only have I been riding with a flat tire I don't even have rims locks and that sucker stayed put. Bottom line is that even though the 908 might not best the best tire so far as traction off road it certainly is one tough tire.

I'm a big fan of that tire for big bikes. Compared with the other 'adventure' type tires its hard to beat. Rode one flat thru a scenic chunk of Morocco...:)
