• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Custom Gas Tank

Husqvarna
Built this tank out of aluminum. Holds almost 2 gallons. What do you think?

The forward mount I had to weld a tab on my sub frame. As you can see in the middle photo w/ the sticker on it. The rear mount, I was able to use existing hole in sub frame both are isolated with rubber pads as well.

It is not plumbed into my existing system, do to my bikes in 09 and its EFI. Should not be a problem to plumb in carborated bikes, although I am open for suggestions on how to plumb it into my bike. Right now it is just pour, from pepcock below.

Man, that looks really nice! Any plans to offer some up for sale? I wonder if the mounting points are the same on the 630.

The forward mount it attached with 2 bolts to a custom tab welded to the subframe. Not a "bolt on" and go. Like you said though, looks sweet. I can see a market for these.

Oh, ok. I see the tab now. Hard to get a good look at it on my phone.

Nice job  the fuel petcock on the bottom scares me a little, looks like it could take a hit pretty EZ. Cool you can just remove it when not needed.

I think i would have been inclined to leave it brushed aluminum and put a Akrapovic sticker on it or something. Would make it disappear as people would think it is a muffler.

Could you adapt a siphon type cap similar to what is used on the acerbis number plate tanks so that the fuel is siphoned into the main tank while the engine is running.

it did look like a muffler befor power coat but i had the sticker and thought it would be a good spot for it as far as the pep cock goes well see ,in the photo its just finger tight but some thing better would be better...well call it r&d ...

You could install a quick disconnect that wouldn't protude as much & carry your petcock or fuel line for draining. By the way, your tank looks really good

I think what you have put together looks fantastic.

Have you positioned yourself on the bike with your boots on, standing leaning back as going through some tall woops, to determine if you have clearnace for the back of your boot? It appears from the photos that you may have an issue dependant on your physical size, boot dimension and your aggressive riding stance for woops.

im 6 2 225 lbs size 12 boot , i have not noticed yet i was concerned about breaking my leg on the thing bewteen a rock or log so i tapered the front ,it hasent been noticable ,it does come off in about 3 minites on more hard core days ..

Great minds think alike, my mig welder is in the mail to me, and guess what is project # 1? An aux tank for my 610.

I am curious about the filler neck and cap. Where did you source those?
