  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Custom Dakar Fairing For Te510

Gday,

I just thought I'd post my corona project in here for interest and any advice people have.

I've started making a dakar fairing for my 2010 TE510. I recently fitted a safari tank and decided I needed some wind protection, a proper dash and better headlight(s).

So far I've just shaped the preliminary design by eye from polyurethane foam. The plan is to finalise the shape in the next few days, glass over the foam to make a plug then take a mold off it. I watched some videos on YouTube of some Belgium blokes making one for a bike (

) and got inspired.

Next steps will be to work on the subframe that the new headlight and fairing will bolt to. The plan here is to mould a piece that clamps around the headstock and extends straight out, similar to how I've seen them make the dakar subframes.

In terms of the headlight, I just bought a cheap LED headlight meant for a Harley off eBay, but still waiting for this to arrive. Some pictures of progress are attached... Be happy to hear anyone put their 2 bobs worth in.

Here is the most recent shape. I'm going to hold off on doing more until the headlight arrives.

Headlight just arrived, it's bloody perfect. $35 delivered from eBay, it will be possible to fit 2, however I think this would be overkill. The plan id's to mount it offset, endurance racer style.
