  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Crank Vent TXC250 vs 310

So my TE250 has a simple PCV system that sucks through the airbox and up the vent from the valve cover....two hoses. The TE250 simply pulls oil into the airbox and coats the intake port with oil.

The 310 has a third hose that separates the oil from the frame backbone and drains it back to the drain plug under the motor. No oil in the intake but a risk of loosing all the oil in the motor if the hose pulls off the drain plug.

The TC250 does not have a hose to the airbox at all. It has one hose to the valve cover to the frame and drains whatever oil is expelled from the motor to the ground.

I don't like the oil in my intake. Could not I just vent it to the ground like the TC?

What if I decide to put my spare 310 motor in the 250 frame?

Check out Zip-Ty Racings drain back kit. The 310 has a higher pressure in the PCV system, or something like that. It eliminates the hose to the drain plug.

On my 2010 txc250 that is now a 310 I just vent it like a TC. There is a thread on here somewhere by robertaccio showing how he did it.

The thing is the 250 frame has one less hose nipple on it. The 250 has two, the 310 has three.

On the 310 the frame backbone acts as a catch can and the oil drains back to the motor.
On the 250 vacuum and oil just runs from the valve cover to the airbox. That is my 250's head has an oil coating on the intake port and the 310 does not.

I already use the ZipTy kit on the oil filler.

I DO NOT trust that hose on the drain plug at all.

R_Little, you can have my ZT drain back kit, no charge. I had it on my 310 and I hated it. Fiddly and messy.
