  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc CR125/144 pipe options

Does anyone have any comparison info on what the best pipe is for the 12 CR144?? I'm familiar with the companies that make them, but am wondering if anyone has hard facts on which one does what. FMF, Pro Circuit, HGS, Scalvini, are there any more? I'm interested in mid-to-top only, and am not interested in low-end. The stock pipe seems pretty good in that it really revs over peak nicely without signing off abruptly, just wondering if there is MORE ****************************************

I'd like to know too. I bought a 11 CR 150 yesterday, but I've been reading up on them for the last few weeks. I don't see a lot of pipe info, but it would be nice to know which pipes are better for low, mid and top end power.

I haven't compared the rest on the Husky, but I've owned a lot of bikes and a lot of parts, and I can say without question the Scalvini and RB carb work combo is just insane.....

...might not be much help but on my 07 WR125 I just got rid of my Pro Circuit pipe/silencer combo because it was too pipey(read: mid-top)..I ride snotty tight woods mostly and P/C is definately not for me.. no low end hit ..the FMF combo I just put on got me the pull I needed down low without excessive clutch work.Maybe the Pro Circuit is what you're looking for.

Best of luck in your search.

So it seems that the FMF pipe is the better low/mid pipe, and the PC is better for top end?

For those who have changed from the stock pipe, is it a few hundred well spent, or is the stock pipe that good? I hear conflicting things on the stocker. Some say it leaves a lot of power on the table, some say it works well. Anybody want to add fuel to that fire? :)

I put a fatty on my 07 wr125 and noticed a slight increase across the board in power and also it feels like it smoothed the power band out, pulling even off idle to on the pipe.
I spend most of my time just off idle to mid throttle on tight single tracks in the mountains.
I'm happy with the results.

I don't even know if this is relevent or not, but on my 165, the FMF fatty is a monster in the mid, and has great low end. That's why I went with the PC. Better up top, where I like to ride the bike.

I running an FMF fatty from a 2002 CR125 on my 2012 CR/WR 144 and it gives more power everywhere according to my butt-o-meter!

Keep reading my friend. In my experience the basics above are true: FMF Gnarly for better low-mid, Fatty for better mid-top, PC for less low, more mid-top. I've only tested on a 144, not 125.
WB recommends a custom 200SX pipe for the 165 and I would agree, especially with the Lectron/G2 throttle combo.

I have the Pro Circuit and the Scalvini pipe and can attest that the Scalvini provides notable gains everywhere whereas the Pro Circuit pipe tends to increase the mid and the top. A couple of guys claim that the Scalvini runs even better if you keep the stock silencer but I have yet to try it.
