  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Cr 250?

Sunday!

Husqvarna
A Class
when is the last year they stopped making these?

it would be so cool if they made a crx or something like the txc like a woods 250 2 stroke.

The WR trans is the same as the CR`s were, all you have to do is put in the CR ignition on and you pretty much have a CR!!!

when you say ignition, do you mean?? all parts

If you look at the Husqvarna manuals you will see that the 250CR was made up to 2005, but was only offered to the USA market up to 2002. I have seen some 2003's here in the USA but they were brought in from other countries.

You can change your WR into a CR by switching the complete ignition and putting on a 19" rear wheel. To really be authentic you could also remove your spark arrestor and use a non oring chain.

still riding a 2002cr 250 for mx practise on wednesday nights-the thing is a joy to ride
Skinny, light, spins the tire easily for drive to launch doubles

I have a 2004 wr 250 and though not recently studied the owners manual and the parts sheets. There are some other differences not mentioned. cr has thinner reeds and there is an insert in the intake tract for one of them, cr has devices in the top of the forks which allow you to adjust the spring pre load to some degree and comes with different springs. I havn't gone through the sheets for the suspention to see if that is as far as it goes or not. The steering neck bearings are different, depending on what year (think the new versions use the cr bearings) I think the wr ones had a steel tube inside there with a slot for a steering lock while the cr one probably is larger and aluminum though I have not taken a cr one apart. I can't say if the offset is different but the clamps have different part numbers which might be expected with a different stem. Going through the parts sheets you will find quite a few differences. As for the ignition wr in the manual is called analog and cr is called digital.
