• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Clutch too stiff...

Is there a way to decrease the stiffness of the clutch on my sm 610? I'm getting spasms in my hand. The bike only has 1,400 mi. Will it decrease with time?

Not being a hydraulic clutch it is a tad stiffer but sounds like it could be binding - you need to check the angle that the cable is exiting the lever perch and also below the approach angle to the activator lever. May require some cable re-routing and tweaking as well as regular lube. There is a hydraulic clutch conversion I believe - am sure a Husky Cafeista will chime in.

Thx Big Dom, will wait to see if anyone chimes in.

Will decrease as your hand gets stronger. :D

Seriously, even a cable clutch should be pretty easy to actuate. Definitely check for routing and squirt some lube down the cable. Might help to compare it to another to make sure it's normal and not a defective cable. It could have gotten kinked or bent.

My versys is cable and I don't even think about either one when I'm riding. It's as easy to pull as the TE. The hydraulic is nice and smooth though, and a pretty light pull. Using one or two fingers a lot when running offroad.

Thx CJ, I have a bit of arthritis and that is probably a factor. I will do as you suggest. My Triumph has a really soft pull compared to the Husky though. Maybe the stiff clutch will make my hand stronger.
