  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Clutch drag te310 2011

Tim Randall

AA Class
Hey guys,
Have noticed my 310 has a fair bit of clutch drag, to the point that its difficult to find neutral and when the bikes rear wheel is in the air it spins bloody quick!
I blead the line recently and it hasn't got any better, am thinking its time for a clutch master kit. Any other things to look for/check to find the problem?

Cheers, Tim

Oil could be the key, needs to be on fresh fully synthetic oil. Recommendation is Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w50 or our race team had good results on the Motul 15w50 300v Factoryline.

I've seen a few on poor oil where the clutch centre bush goes tight on the shaft which will cause drag and eventually seizes up meaning continual drive even with the clutch pulled in.

Good points!
She is due for an oil change so ill see if its any better with fresh oil.

I'm using oil recommended by my dealer, can't remember the viscosity but its good quality fully synthetic motorex oil, will check the viscosity when I get home and update.

Thanks guys :)

10-50 is the oil I'm using.... Should be ok??
Oil was changed not that long ago either, so leads me to think its something else??

Cheers

I have the same issue with an 09 TE 250. It's hard to find neutral with it fired up. I just give it a quick blip of throttle and lightly tap up on the shift lever. If I time it right, I get neutal. IMHO ride and don't worry about it.

Yeah to get it in neutral a blip works, it's just really annoying and I'd rather not have to do it :P

Cheers guys for the suggestions, time to do some investigating :)

Depends which 10-50... although I've no desire to start another oil debate!! :-)

Dave
Haha...
Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w50
Viscosity Kinematic: 77.37 mm2/s (77.37 cSt) at 40°C
Kinematic: 17.19 mm2/s (17.19 cSt) at 100°C

Match those viscosity specifications with your brand of choice and you will meet manufacturer recommendations.
