  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Check your float height

Just bought a RB designs modified Mikuni off a fellow forum user .
It didn't run well - felt unresponsive and fuel was evident dribbling down overflow lines when on stand . Same jetting .

Checked float level compared to near new good running Mikuni and float was too high
Tang needed to be bent up a little so that the float was level with bowl at 45 degrees .
This is unscientific but seems to work .
With carb back on the bike it was much peppier
Need to ride bike on the dirt now to test carb fully

So first point of call for tuning Mikuni to me is checking float height

I may need to raise my float height a fraction
Checking the spark plug after a ride its looking a bit lean with
470 main and 35 pilot
No bogs though and I did get great fuel economy - on My '13 WR 125 I did 85k with 1 litre left before reserve :)
(55 miles)
A fellow rider on a Husaberg TE 300 had to go on reserve !!

So if your economy is poor - the float height could be the issue

( BTW the reserve is only a cup size - with a bit more on other side of tank if you can get it )

I bought an RB modded TMX from another member, and had the same problem with power and gas leaking out the overflow.
Now that the float's set right, it's incredible.

Yes - I cant remember ever having such fun time on a bike .:)
The bottom end was amazing - for a 125 . Hill climbing was fun and it felt unstoppable - and the top end was very strong .

I really like the new WR ignition too - It feels elastic band like .
Great overrev and smoothness but with a nice hit
For trail rides I much prefer the Wr ignition to CR now - taken a while to come to that conclusion
