  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Changing WR 300 oil

It has a sight glass, fill it to around 1/2 way to 3/4....make sure you lean the bike side to side before letting it settle to get a correct reading.
As an indication, when you have a hard time finding neutral, time to change the oil....or every 3-5th ride, all depends on how you ride.
Hope it helps.

rtfm! should be @ 800ml. You can measure how much comes out, use the oil check screw to confirm @ correct amount.

Sorry guys, never knew the 2009 had no sight glass..wonder if clutch covers from previous models with sight glasses would fit?

An 09 has a screw on the cover that you can remove for a level check. The correct amount is 795cc, I find measuring it is much better than using the level hole plus the small screws in thin covers have a tendency to strip out.

I've been putting 750 ml (23.5oz) in my 2008 WR250. I better go back and check to make sure in doesn't call for more...

WR 250 calls for .7 imp quart which converts to .84 US quarts. .84 quart = 26.88 ounces or 794.936 ml.

You're welcome, I was all over the conversions because I just changed the oil today myself. We have perfect riding weather right now. Gonna ride a top secret HnH practice loop tomorrow.

My manual says 0.8 litres or 800 ml. Checked it once with the screw and it seemed spot on. Just put in new tranny oil after the last ride and my fluid was too silver-grey for my liking. I guess I've been abusing it too much.

How many hours btwn oil changes?

I just did an oil change and installed 7602 clutch cover with sight glass. 800 cc/ml fills it just to the top of the sight glass

I only ever run it half way in sight glass(cold engine). Wouldn't be much difference I spose never really checked amount but spose be around 700-750ml as never get it all out of cases when changing

I got mine warm and drained yesterday. I added a tick under 800 ml because I have no easy way to measure small cc/ml amounts. It worked fine today and there were some nasty rocky climbs.
