  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chain Slider options for 13 TE 310...

I went with TM Designworks for the slider and guide on my 2012 TE310 and am very pleased with both.

Have not been able to find another and it looks good and fair price. Funny thing, I decided to try the BRP guide so ordered one last week.... And a black rear rotor guard from Kelly

I just went to a 50T rear sprocket and new chain. The chain rides up from the bottom of the sprocket to the chain guide. Do I need to put a new chain guide on?

I put a TM Designworks guide on mine when I went to a 50-tooth rear, but the TXC's come stock with a 50, and I believe they come with the same guide as the TE's from the factory.

I decided to replace all my driveline... rollers, slider/guide with new 50 and counter. Once I removed a few things noted disintegrating slider and grinding bearings in lower roller. I figured the 50 would cause more wear with the guide as well. I will end up with a serviceable upper roller and stock guide as spares for the tool box. Otherwise a spanking new drivetrain. Not crazy expensive and better to get an eyeball on those components before failure and to have some spares when needed in a pinch.

"You are going to like the rotor guard. Just make sure the screws are Loctited or they will vibrate out."

Mine arrived and looks good but had some issues installing it. Tried twice and the sleeve of the bracket (spacer) is shorter than stock by 2-3mm. and so the wheel sits too far right, wedging the caliper/bracket and misaligning the axle on the right where it jams up. Remove and install stock and axle slips right in. Waiting for an update from Kelly. Has to be the bracket for a different bike.

WTF? really? never had an issue with those. rear one right?

Mine is a '13. The spacer was probably a performance enhancement for the 13/14 bikes.

Just checked part numbers back to '10 and all use this spacer.

Maybe the end plate is 2mm thicker so overall length the same. In any regard, something was hindering my install (rotor fasteners protruding maybe) so decided to go without for now.

TM Slider and Rollers installed. The TM is thicker and utilizes the existing hardware plus a few more washers to fit between the metal cups on the front mounts. I repaired the cups as they tend to bend and bust through unless you use washers on both sides. The included washers fit between the metal cups in front to fill the voids. The rollers are not as wide as stock and the ridge is offset, so I carefully looked at the old rollers for wear marks and measured them to add the appropriate amount of spacers to suit. 2 washers one side and one on the opposite and offset as appropriate. All seems lined up. Waiting on my BRP guide and then will break the new chain. Chain adjustment tool will change as the slider is thicker. My old roller set on the new slider will work well for that.

For the rear guide I am really liking my BRP one.
