  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hope your buddy is okay? Damn, that is some serious "carnage!" He can fix the bike with some$$$, bodies are a little harder to fix....

Oh that sucks...the worst part of those types of crashes is all the damage you don't see right away...like bent frames, forks etc.

Hope hes ok.

He broke his right wrist and thumb. Out for 6 weeks.

Then there is the replacement of that head!

Damn!!!I'm also recovering from a broken wrist (they put a plate in). Recovery is really for the birds. Anyway, good luck also getting the Husky fixed, that will take some $$$$.

Ouch-

If everything moved enough to break the head like that, I can't help wonder what else is bent that isn't so obvious to the eye........??

Are the forks bent also?

Your bud is lucky it was just a broken wrist & thumb, could've been a lot worse.

Was hoping to do that event if the weather was going to be a bit more reasonable. Have done a couple rides this year in crap weather & I just had enough.
Looked like fun otherwise from the pics on the ODSC site.

Ouch! That looks like more than your standard broken wrist...more like the entire forarm. It sucks getting hurt...broke my left fibula late last October when mine bucked me off and landed full force on my foot. All healed up now, but still stiff and not back to full strength yet. Old geezers take awhile to heal, I'm finding.

Yes, us Old Geezers take a while to heal! That picture was taken about little more than a month ago, it looks better now, with a massive scar. I was so excited to ride my bike out of the garage and back in last weekend.
Hope your leg is healing okay. It just takes time....Plus, from wearing a cast or brace on your leg, you lose muscle and that takes time to re-gain.

The level of bounce is inversely proportional to the age of the rider.

I go splat now when I used to bounce and roll.

That is, without a doubt, the best qoute I have ever heard :busted: I'm hanging that in my garage: " The level of bounce is inversely proportional to the age of the rider "
