• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So in the new dirt rider it has a section on the fcr carb.
I noticed in the pics of the carbs that the choke knob is lower than the hotstart and the hotstart is farther in. but on my 2006 tc250 its the opposit. So why are they different?, just curious.

Just spent some time searching for the Jan 2009 issue... cannot find it.

Things like hot start, choke, AP diaphragm stud length, AP actuation linkage, leak jet, bowl, etc vary across bike makers...

I would rather have the choke knob out front where the hot start is. I rarely use the hotstart but I can see why the hot start is where it is at in case you need it quickly.

I like the bar-mounted hot start levers. I had a Dr D remote hot start on my `01 WR250F and it was much more user-friendly than when it was on the carb.

On my 610, the hot start and the choke are much too close to one another. There have been times when I've reached down while on the bike to pull the choke and have gotten the hot start instead.

I can't find the choke while on the bike but I really don't need to. I just need the choke when it is real cold & I'm off the bike anyway before starting it. Never used the hot start.
