  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Can 2011 310TE be lowered?

Husqvarna
AA Class
I spoke to a local Husky dealer recently and as I am interested in getting a new 2011 310TE and am height challenged, I inquired about getting the bike lowered. He told me that the 2011 310TE has new suspension components that can't be lowered? Is this true and if so why? Would I have to change the shock or forks?
Thanks,
New to Huskys,
Harvey

I think he may of been confused with the rear suspension of a BMW/Husky. Which may be able to be lowered as well, don't know. From what I have seen of photos of the '11 TE 310 the suspension is the same as a 2010 TE 250 and don't know why it could not be lowered.

Any suspension can be lowered, just depends if pocket is deep enough, depending on what model.

george,
As this may be my last bike, money is not much of an object to get it done right. Any suggestion on how or who to do it to a Husky?

I'm sure George can take care of it for you, but I was talking to Bill Farrell (BMP) the other day and he had just lowered a bike with the new suspension. Said it was a little more involved, but it didn't sound like a really big deal.

I am only 5' 5". Probably need to lower it 1 and 1/2 inches and maybe also lower seat. Can it be done?
Harvey

IMO you are better off shaving the seat and modifying the rear subframe to sit lower if you are planning on seriously off roading. However if you are dead set on lowering the suspension, the fork cartridge and shock shaft can be shortened. lowering linkages and running the fork tubes further up ruin the geometry, and on the 11 a linkage might not be available.

Most suspension shops that work with supermoto setups can shorten the suspension for you, but I would look at the subframe mods first. Thats what the short guys like Carmichael do as its the only way to still have a fully functional bike.

I am only 5.5 too. When i sent my suspention to ltr to get the right springs and revalved for riding woods he said that alone will drop the suspention one inch alone, and i had him lower it 3/8 a inch. I love it. It fits me perfect. Dont for get the more you lower it the less ground clerance you have.

I have seen Bills lower just about any model.

I would be happy to lower your 2011 TE-310 Give me a call and i can give you tips to determin the proper amount to lower 908 637 6385.

Drew,
I will take you up on that. I sat on a 2010 450 Te today, and frankly, I felt like I needed a ladder to just get on. My feet were almost three inches from toes touching. At 165 lbs, maybe the springs were just to stiff. Anyway, I hope to ride a friends 2010 250te in the next few weeks to find out how one feels to ride. Then I should have a better feel for how much lowering needs to been done.

Once Drew, puts the right springs in it for you and sets the front spring load, and you set the right rear sag the bike will come down a good inch. Dont lower it to much. I have my front forks with two lines on top showing and my rear static sag at 50mm. I know iam pushing the rear sag put it works for me. I had it lowered 3/8 of a inch and i am glad i did not go any more.

Huskyte 310
Whats the problem with lowering the bike more? Also, I will be going to Husky Days at Gorman to test drive a few bikes. I should know more then.

Here is a pic of an 09 TXC250 that we lowered for a customer. We generally dont go any lower than 1.5".

 I know how you feel! When I brought my new `09 WR125 home I had Eric measure how far my feet were from the ground. I'm 5'1" and both feet were a full 8" off the ground! I had the suspension revalved/resprung for me and lowered it 1" and now it is manageable. It works great, too!

The pic is kinda irrelevant Scott, if we can't see it beside a normal bike.
To my untrained eye it looks like a very clean TXC.:excuseme:

Just my two cents.

That bike is 1.5" lower than a stocker. We have done 2" but you lose too much ground clearance. I will try and find a pic of a stocker to compare.
