• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

LeftCoast invited me and my 5 year old son Logan out to Glen Helen for a very fun day of Vintage racing on the REM track. That coupled with the OTHG Over The Hill Gang Race going on on the National track made for an endless day of fun.

LeftCoast gave me a quick tour of the REM track and gave me a good review of his bike . I then went on a little all afternoon photo op down the vintage lines, to the Vintage starting gates, met and spoke with a couple of great vintage guys, then went over to the kids track where my son told me he wants to be racing by Christmas and then over to the National track 2nd floor bleachers and watched the Int , novice and Beginner lines race one moto each. Hit the snack bar for Gummi Bears and then back to the truck.... Great day all around... Thanks LeftCoast!!!

Also spent a lot of time with Mike Clifton who I met for the first time today talking 390's ech tips and suspension. Thanks Mike!

Here are the pics .. I went more for the bikes over the race shots as they were not allowing random photographers onto the track plus with my little guy with me I didn't want to expose him to any unnecessary danger in the middle of the track...

I have to say that this particular group of Vintage riders rides harder than most modern racers I have seen lately... these CALVMX guys are hard corps

Here goes in no particular order:

Great Race Day!!! More Husky's than I normally see at the local SoCal tracks!!

T

What a glorious sight all those old bikes are.:applause: Brings back lots of good memories from the "golden years" of off road racing. Thanks for sharing.:D

Husky T- great to finally meet after all this time and props to young Mr. Logan! Hopefully we'll se you out the next time with bike in hand (you can race modern with this club). BTW, the fellow on the #39 YZ in the 4th photo is Mike Bell. it's THAT kind of crowd!

Funny thing is That myself and 14 yo daughter are 2009 CALVMX members....by virtue of her 1980 XL-XR 80 convert. We have only ridden our modern machines at their Jamul practice track. They (Frank V) and company have some super nice machines and a good club organization as well as a nice family atmosphere. Glad you all had a good time, and supported the event. Thanks for all the photos!!! Great to see all those machines out on the track. R

When is the next vintage race at Glen Helen?

It looks like a great event!
