    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Cable oilers not reproduced?

They reproduce just about every bit for these bikes, but not the cables with the oilers?? Just wondering why, seems like a lot of the vintage bikes used these.

I rob the good oilers from old bad cables and then install them on the new cables. You need to make a hole in the vinyl cable covering before installing the oiler.
I have not seen any repro oilers.

For originality and function I understand. I use the cable lube system. The gadget that goes on the end of the cable housing then we attach a spray can of oil and flush the cable and housing.
 
Yes, I was just asking because I like the original look. I have the motion pro cable oiler, but honestly I never use it, modern cables have some sort of plastic liner that seems to be fine for me.

Agreed. The cable oilers are nice until the little cap falls off, and the body of the oiler gets packed with grit.
It's awfully easy to pop one end or the other and use the little crimp-on device.
 
Regardless if the oilers work great or not....and yes there are better ways to lube the cables. Some people like myself like to keep the Huskys looking as original as possible.

I fall into and respect that category Marty. At the moment I am waiting on a packet of M5 cheesehead screws for my front chain roller from some ebay guy in China!
 
I can respect that as well. I still do have some with the oiler port, and do still ride them that way. If that's the only thing holding you back from a 100% stock appearance, good luck to you. Until I get there, they're a bit lower on the list for me personally.
