  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc broken down for a year... husky wr125/144/165

Husqvarna
AA Class
my husky has been seriously messing about for about 12 months now...
its been a second bike for me, but time to get it right.

here is what it's doing, it wont rev out at all...
(if it asks for a password it's husky)
http://vimeo.com/98256825

plenty of things have been done to source and rectify the issue, these being:
countless carb changes, changing to lectron, richer and leaner with no difference.
new top end.
inspected reeds a number of times.
ignition coil and lead replaced.
timing checked.
compression checked.
checked squish.
measured resistance on stator.
replaced LHS crank seal, (cant smell atf burning so didnt replace RHS).
numerous plug changes.
many other things as well

well, over to you cafe husky.
i reckon it must be stator.
does the symptoms match the stator playing up???

Great video and REPRO of the problem ... And I'm sure the guys here can provide the fix .... Sounds like gas\CARB stuff to me but hold on till the crew arrives ..

The tank does allow gas to flow freely out to the carb? :) ... Here's to better luck with your troubleshooting!

Reckon I might be interested in that coil wire if you decide to sell it ....

Ohh thats a toughie, had similar issue with my 360 turned out it was a crank shaft seal, but youve checked those, have you checked to see if all the bolts through the cases are tight could be sucking oil through the split in case... Long shot

How about the timing have you strobed the engine?
Could be cdi but doubt that, how long can it idle for before cutting out on its own?
Have you disconnected power valve to see if that has any effect.

It doesnt really have to smell of atf to fowl a plug its thick stuff, have you checked the gearbox vent pipe if thats blocked the engine may be sucking oil past the seal due to negative pressure. Try running it without oil plug in.

Good luck

Looks and sounds like it is losing spark once under a load. I noticed that smoke increased during bog/misfiring which indicates that fuel not being completely burned.

I would re-check wiring connections at all connectors and grounds. If you know someone that can hook the primary and secondary ignition up to an oscilloscope you could eliminate a lot of digging.

You most probably have already changed the plug cap as I recently did a GasGas 200 that ran just like that and all it was was the plug cap. so if you have not it could well be that simple.

+1

I had very similar problem with my husky. Bike is all stock but lectron. It was running right but sometimes engine suddenly stall. Usually it started fine after that but wont take throttle. When this happened i usually replace plug and check that fuel runs etc. and sooner or later bike was running ok again. Bike did this few times until that was all it was able to do. Started and idle fine but when you hit throttle it was like choking. Just like yours in video. Problem on my bike was shortcut in wireharness behind headlight.

It will be the stator .
I rode your bike a year ago .
Recently When I went from the cr ignition back to a Wr ignition i noticed a similar sound to your issue. But only slight
And intermittent
It's a hollow - tinny sort of mid firing sound

Drop it up to me and we will put a cr ignition on it ;)

sorry it has been broke down for a year but at least there's a few others (seen in video) around to ride. :)

sounds like ignition related to me, but a leak down test would rule out and air leak. But it really seams like ignition problem.

just spoke to George from:
http://www.aussieweb.com.au/business...winds/1703417/

he said stator is shorting out. should be getting 140V, but only getting 40V.

pretty sure my long running issue could be solved...
ohh, from now on when measuring resistance of stator iaw repair manual, i will also take a grain of sand with reading.

i'm guessing my lh side stator cover must've let water in on that creek crossing....
