    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Broken chain roller mount

It's gotta be me - no one else breaks this stuff, right?

I put a Motosportz side stand on my TXC a few weeks ago - and have been cackling like a mad man every time I use it, since trying to find a tree in No. Nevada to lean my bike against has been frustrating. :cheers:

So yesterday I went for a ride with Sharpie on his blingie new toy. First time we stop I put the sidestand down and cackle, as usual. A few miles on we stop again, I put the sidestand down - and watch my bike fall over. :banghead: Hmmmmm. Looks like I broke the bottom mounting point - the stock bottom chain roller mount - completely off. The sidestand served to hold the roller wheel in place for the rest of the day - but now what do I do? :excuseme:

I can have a new mount welded up, but the stock mount is barely enough to hold the wheel in place, I'm not sure how much more beef would be need there to hold against the sidestand's leverage.

Has anybody figured a reinforcement - maybe a bracket between the bottom sidestand mounting bold and the footpeg?

PS - I want to make sure that I am implying NOTHING about Motosportz's product, in any way shape or form. The side stand is not the issue here, everything I have ever bought from Kelly has been well made, well thought out and plain all-around bomber. This '08 frame on the other hand...
 
Just a side note, I am using a KTM lower guide instead of the roller, quiet and no bearings to wear out.
My lower roller mount broke as well on my WR but nothing to do with the side stand
