  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Broke a clutch lever, what do you recommend? 14 wr300

Broke my 14 wr300 clutch lever on the weekend, was an almost embarrassing crash too. Too much gas exiting a turn at what was little above walking speed on a slippery track. Slid out one way then back the other then over I went. Broke the lever at the ball end cut away.

At least I could keep riding!

Used to have a set of folding levers on my last bike, a CRF250R but don't particularly want to spend big dollars replacing it, but do want something better than factory. Less lever pressure would be a bonus though, but I'd rather spend that extra cash on fuel or 2t oil for next weekends ride!

Does anyone have any suggestions

Cheers,
Tim

I bought a shorty lever for a KTM that fit my 09 WR250, it was about $15-$20 if I remember correctly

The 2009+ yz450f OEM clutch lever and perch is nice. Comes with nice micro adjuster for lever position. Also has massive clutch free play adjuster and all pieces heavily rubber shrouded. Should be cheap but Honda OEM is real cheap price wise.

Cheers guys,

Appreciate the input - I was hoping some units for Jap model bikes would suit!
Stumbled across this nice looking Moose unit to suit 2010-2014 YZ450F's that looks like a decent bit of kit - would this fit?

2premo;
I've got the standard factory brush guards, I prefer not to go the full around bark buster types.
I've had a couple of mates break wrists because of those things, getting their hands caught in them in a crash.

i have heard and also thought about getting injured like that..never knew anyone it happened to. you certainly have to be aware that they are installed. i could see if you held on too long how it may happen.

Just bit the bullet and ordered one of those Moose EZ3 setups, standard length and also a shorty lever.
Interested to see how it goes.

And hopefully it fits!

Thanks mate,

I was searching for the OEM one you mentioned and saw this pop up a bit and looked a bit interesting!
Bit of a googling brought up some decent reviews from people which have tried it out so fingers crossed it works ok.

Cheers,

I thought the whole breaking wrists from barkbusters was an old wives tale?! first thing I do when about to throw a superman over the bars(which I try to avoid like the plague anyway) is put my arms & hands out to break(sorry) my fall & get as far away from the bike as possible so I don't cop 115kg in the back or head. would be very inconvenient & awkward though i must admit-think about everything you need at least one hand for;) .

magura makes hydro conversion which is pretty nice but exy but otherwise go some sort of ezy pull(msr rator I think or pivot assist from ballards off road) with a nicely lubed & properly routed cable & shel be golden to use!

bloke i know rides with a guy who broke both wrists due to bark busters but i hate breaking levers so mine stay mounted.who knows he may have been as bad without them fitted.

I really like the MSR ProRaptor on both my 165 and WR300. It has a setting for easier pull. While your at it, get a Motion Pro Terminator cable and you will have a one finger, smooth clutch pull.

Alright well I finally got around to fitting up the Moose EZ3 clutch... yeah I know I've been slack...
It felt pretty good, was definitely lighter than stock - but I managed to snap the bloody perch whilst tightening it up to the bar! Very frustrated!
I think it was a combination of me having the perch too far along the bar, possibly on a slight bend... and tightening it up too tight.

Either way - back to square one and need to order another bloody lever again.
