Breaking off turn signals

Hey folks.

So I have busted 4 rear turn signals on my 2010 TE 510 in a matter of weeks and I am getting tired of buying new ones. I am looking for an alternative. I will not consider any that cannot be easily seen by cars so dont rave to me about those microscopic ones you use that nobody can see from over 25 feet away. I feel its dangerous enough riding on the street without having easily visible turn signals. Is there any that can flex when a bike falls over? Or pop off and and reattach quickly? I think even a set thats slightly shorter than the stock ones might give them a better chance of surviving a bike drop. Some flush mount ones would be fine also, but only if the lens is of decent size and fairly round so that they are easily veiweable from behind the bike.

Ideas and suggestions welcomed.

I got some after market ones that are bright ($12?). I used some plastic from around the house to mount them, eventually I went high tech and bought some more durable/flexible plastic from a plastics store for $5.

Electrosport Probably comes closest to what you are looking for...

Those will work in stock locations and are LED so they are less susceptible to vibes and brunt force damage unlike filaments...

I like NONE or flushmount types or that which is tucked in well- sometimes "nothing" will prevent damage...

Handguards that incorporate LED's are great too: zeta makes some, HDB makes some.....

In general, if you are looking for flexible/durable OEM stalk versions, Yamaha seems to have the best to me. Might want to take a look at a Yamaha dealer.

I went with a set of small trianglular ones on skinny flexible stalks I found at my local scooter dealer. They were $14 for a pair and mounted perfectly on the stock tabs. They are standard filament bulbs so I didn't need to muck around with changing the flasher module. I've already tested them in a couple drops offroad and they came thru with flying colors. My next item to seek out are better mirrors.


I only have one of the originals left in good condition, the other three are broken (one is melted too).

The electro-sports I've seen up here haven't lasted long on the rear. They still stick out too far and although they do bend, they ultimately end up ripped off the bike. They seemed to work better up front than the stockers, though. I think Dean's setup might work pretty well in this hairy, sticky stuff locally. I mounted a set of stick on low profile LED's to my rear fender and "wiped" them off with my hips picking the bike up. My Zeta front shields have held up the best. Still working after having the snot knocked out of them multiple times.

Check out the HDB ones. They are made of billet aluminum, so they are incredibly tough.
