  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

brand new TE310R 2014 or TE449 2011 ???

Sit on them both see which one feels best to you , everyone is gonna defend their bike , If ur planning on just street riding I recommend a Harley.
I don't own one, I just walk into my dealer and choose which one I want to rent ;). My review comes from years of going by the whole "I'd rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow" saying and just being slow. Well guess what? After 20+ years of riding, I found I enjoy "riding the fast bike slow" :).

Really though, you bring up a really good point that I barely brought up in my post. The feel is so different between the two. That really is the main reason I love the 449. If that 310 motor was put in the 449 frame I'd have a harder time choosing (but still would choose the 449 for the torque).

I think these are the best threads when someone like motosportz and Russ contribute. They didn't just sit on the bikes, they e spent quite a bit of time on them. Just a fun read and much better then the whole "my bikes better because..." Threads :)

I have a 2013 TXC 310 and a 2011 TXC 449. Both are stock except for LTR suspension tuning and the air box mod I did to the 449. Both are fantastic machines and it is really to bad they are going away.
We have two distinct riding seasons. Winter riding is tight single track with very little elevation changes. I purchased the 310 for this venue fiquring that the lighter snappier bike would be easier to ride. The 449 was for the summer season where there is lots of steep mountain climbs and short range dual sporting.
This winter I have been switching bikes just about every weekend and I must say the 449 has stolen my heart. The bike is very impressive. What ever weight diff a rider may feel. The smooth easy to use motor and the tractability of the CTS make up for any advantage the 310 may have.
I have sampled all the versions of the 449/511 models and I like the TXC 449 the best. If you are mainly riding off road. I would recommend finding a TC 449. If your going to do some medium range dual sporting get the TE 449. After my experience with both there was really no need to get the 310.
Last weekend a friend who had a set of Husky hard parts triple clamps on his now sold 511 let me try them on my 449. We set them on the 15mm off set. The bike went from very good to great in the tight single track and it was still very stable hammering through the whoops
I had to absorb this post for a day before responding. I assume you prefer the 449 over the 511 because of the lighter piston delivers more snap. I lightened my 511 piston to produce this snap while keeping the added torque. Mapping and exhaust makes a massive difference on the 449 as well. The 310's lower power does make it easier to handle, but the 449 can be mapped down to 30hp making it easy as-well and versatile.
