• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Brake Slide or Back-In 511 SMR?

Suputin

Husqvarna
AA Class
Anyone riding an SMR511 or 499 have trouble brake sliding or backing the bike in to a corner on pavement?

I know how to do this, been doing it for several years on a WR250X and an SXV550 but for the life of me can't get my new 511 SMR to do the same thing.

It almost feels as though there is a slipper clutch in the rear hub. No matter how much rear brake I use, the back tire doesn't want to slide and just stays in line under braking. Now thats not a hugely bad thing but backing a sumo into a corner is just so much fun, I wanna be able to do it on this bike.

The one thing I have noticed is a lack of feel and power in the rear brake. I wouldn't have expected that from the setup that Husky has bolted to this bike.

Good Day,

I have a suter clutch in mine and it works great! These bikes handle great, but with enough speed she will slide around trust me!!

Awesome vids man. Surprised the 511 could hang with the aprilia and TM530 as i have ridden both and they are FAST.

Interestingly, when I stiffened up the compression and rebound damping front and back, the back tire began to slide a bit easier on the brakes. The rear brake seems very sensitive to pollution. I think I got some crap in there the other day and the brake just went away to nothing.

Remember when you're backing the bike into a corner, its not the rear brake that's doing the work. A combination of hard front brake and slipping the clutch (after downshifting a couple gears). I posted up a good back-it-in help on SMJ.. I'll find the link
