  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Brake lights not working on 2012 310TE

I recently picked up a '12 TE310 and got it plated. Went riding over the weekend and everything was working. Friend loaded bike in his truck and let it tip over. Broke the throttle side brush guard so I looked at it when I got home and saw a wire dangling below the front brake master cylinder with what appears to be a microswitch attached. Started the bike and checked the brake lights expecting that the rear brakes would work and if I clicked the front brake microswitch it to would work as
I can hear the switch click when I push it in. Found that there were no bright brake lights (front or rear switches depressed) though the parking light mode of the taillight is functional. Where should I start looking? Also how is the front brake microswitch fastened to the master cylinder? Is it glued on? Any help is appreciated!

Update, found a loose connector and now the brake lights are working correctly. Still unsure how to refasten the microswitch to the front master cylinder.

If it's the same as the 2013, it's just pushed in to the brake lever.

Note that if the switch is not pushed in to the lever, the brake light will (should) be on all the time.

Thanks Mike! I guess what I'm not clear on is how the switch is attached or held in place. Does it attach to the master cylinder/reservoir or the lever. The manual or exploded parts diagram doesn't show it in any detail. I haven't been able to find a picture.

Finally figured out previous owner broke off studs on microswitch and epoxied it in place...ordered new from Halls, good to go!
