• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I've got a pair of Alpinestars Tech 3 boots, and they are pretty well made, but they are so stiff it makes shifting and braking more work than it should be. They don't seem to be loosening up any either. Does anybody use shorty boots for off road? I've got Leatt knee braces that have shin guards that go down pretty far, so pretty good protection there. Wondering if a pair of the boots that come up just over the ankle would be better for feel on the brake and shifter? Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Boots that pivot (like the Sidi's) would probably give you more feel. A lower D/S style boot would definitely give you way more comfort, but I'd probably feel naked  with those lower, less coverage type of boots.

I bought a pair of low DS boots and wore them once or twice. They didn't feel very secure and I gave them away to a friend.

I love my Gaerne SG10s,.
Sidi Crossfires don't work on my paddle feet.
Yeah lots of good boots out there.

I've got a pair of Gaerne (GMX) short boots. They're incredibly comfortable (zero break-in time) and well made. I only use them for rides that have no extreme sections. What I've found is: If I have to grip the seat/tank with my legs wearing those boots I end up with bruising on the inside of my upper calves. I use my Crossfires for most enduro rides and save the Gaernes for rides to work or mellow stuff (they're great on my streetbike as well).

Ive had SG10s in the past. I started my first race this year in a brand new pair of SG10s I had only worn in the living room. They were awesome. Still enjoying the same pair.

The only gripe I have is I run fastway pegs and they tear the soles up faster than most boots. Kinda soft soles.

buddy of mine has a pair of Sidi Aguedas and loves them. same idea, more flex and priced a little lower.

Gaerne or Sidi, depending on your feet.

I love my Gaerne Supermotards, they're similar to the SG-10 but with a supermoto sole.
