  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

The only thing I dont like about my 2009 WR 250 is the god awful ugly oversized IMS tank. Ive looked and researched all model years and have found that back in 01 the tanks were the largest at 3.2! After that they were smaller every year.I also discovered that the IMS over sized tanks for the earlier years looked and fit much better than the 4 stroke abortion thats on my bike now.So hear is my vision :2005 side panels that look exactly like the 2006 and newer but blend into the older stlye radiator shrouds with a 3.2 ims tank in all white .The tank would carry fuel lower and be more ergonomic.The big question is would I need a diferent seat and subframe to support the older body pieces? Also were or what company would make me graphics besides motoplastic us? Please give your input.

I am looking to do the same thing. I love the new looks but want the lower tank like the older ones. I thought that the 05 wore the same panels as the 2000+ years and was switched in 06? I have tried google image search and they look the same 2000-2005. That would be perfect if they looked up to date yet accepted the 2000+ tank.
I am currently looking for other tanks that would mount close to the same on the back bone yet be more low slung for fuel. I know this does not sound good but a ktm tank looks to mount close to the same way. and would have to use ktm tank shrouds if that were the case.
Yes I know that starts to sound like a Frankenstein science project gone wrong. 2011 WR 300 with a 99' WR 360 motor, KTM tank and shrouds, Custom Seat- Back half wr300 Front KTM300 with custom foam, rear fender and side panels stock 2011 WR and a txc 511 front fender and headlight?????

FYI, I do not work at a morge.

The 2005 is the only year that has the 2006 rear fender and side panels that blend into the old style shrouds.I think the seat is different cause it looks narrow at the tank.
