• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Follow along, we are having pretty good success this year with a handful of guys making regular and irregular appearances in OMRA XC, GP and Dualsport events.

Nelson Lyon on his WR250 and the Johnson Bros team with Mark in 50Ex are looking good and piling up points on a regular basis in GP. Steve Peterson won the Fort Rock Dualsport on his 610 and several others score regularly in the XC series.

Preliminary Report
The 1R Johnson Bros/BMP TXC511 with Mark Johnson aboard finished first in the 50 Expert class with a 4 1/2 minute lead; lapping everyone except 2nd place. Not bad when the laps are 8 miles long and you're only doing 4 of them.

Nelson Lyon extended his lead in the 50 Am class with another win aboard his Husqvarna WR250.

Thanks again to Bills Motorcycles Plus and the Husqvarna Contingency program for backing our OMRA riders

I will do a full report on the Race thread once I get some pictures.

Oct 6/7, Shedd Cowbell GP and XC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last weekend was the Shedd Cowbell GP (Saturday) and XC (Sunday). The Saturday event was 90 mins on a 3.5 miles loop of which 70% was tight woods. Sunday was nearly 3 hours in the same terrain with 11 mile loops, 95% in those same tight woods. Nelson Lyon pulled off the Saturday 50 Am win on his WR250, while Mark Johnson had to deal with a couple of newly minted 50 year olds and a TXC511 a bit out of its element to get 4th overall and 2nd OMRA 50 Expert. Sunday was even more intense as the field sections were shortened and the loop was increased to 11 miles almost all 2nd-3rd gear woods and almost double the time. Nelson didnt ride the XC event, and Mark pulled out a 2nd overall and 1st OMRA 50 Expert. Afterwards he was muttering something about how that wallybean 165 sitting at BMP with a Rekluse would have been the right tool for the tight trails.
He knows the remedy, write Bill a check and have a blast. I am sure Bill will make another for the other couple of guys looking at buying.
We will have to make sure he gets some seat time on a WB165 (and the red-head TXC310) at the Fall Gathering....which is just a few miles from his house.
Another week, another win for both Nelson and Mark and it looks like OMRA GP Series championships all around. Congratulatons guys. With one race remaining on the schedule Mark Johnson on the 1R TXC511 (50 Ex) and Nelson Lyon on his WR250 (50 Am) took insurmountable leads in their classes yesterday at the Territorial GP.
Very short course, half MX, half trees and grass track, steady rain on Friday night meant excellent riding on Sunday. No dust, nice traction. I even rode a few laps myself just for fun.
Full race report when I get ahold of the pics and the official results.
As always, thanks to Bills Motorcycles Plus, the Husqvarna Contingency program, and Watson Suspension for setup on our TXC511..which even works great for a little MX airtime it turns out.
So, what do you do after you wrap up the OMRA GP series (with one race to go in mid-November)? You go out to China Hat to ride the annual Lobos Fall Classic XC race. One 50 mile loop. This is Marks home terrain so no surprise, he got the holeshot of his wave and then went about picking off the youngsters who started in rows ahead of him. One 50 mile loop later and he brought the BMP/Johnson Bros/Watson Suspension TXC511 in first 50 Expert.
More details when I get them.
As a side note, this bike has gone two seasons now. We change the oil every race (2 weeks) and the oil filter with every other oil change, clean the air filter as needed, swap tires as they wear or conditions dictate....and put gas in it. Still running strong.
Nice****************************************
i rode that Bills race bike (thanks oregonsage) and it flat rips a hole in the terrain. Fast, stable, turns great and the faster you go the more willing it seems. GREAT race bike. I can see how in the right hands it will dominate.
