• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bit sick....... but lets see em

Right i had a 10mph off last year and landed really badly,

So if i show you mine will you lot show me yours.. no injury too small

Ready

I broke my wrist and needed a plate, this was fine for 12 hours then i developed carpel tunnel syndrome, so they have to cut you open front and back and let you bleed out for two days
Then takes another two days to stitch you back up

All in all 1 op, three emergency ops, lots of morphine:cripple:

Still riding most weekends though:thumbsup:

now thats a hell of a scare...

i have broke both elbows, ankles, wrists, AC, colar bone....

but never kept the xrays...

Total knee reconstruction here. No x-rays, as it was all soft tissue. The two scars and three arthroscopic incisions don't come close to adding up to yours!

Waitaminnit...you broke your left wrist...but is that a cast I see on your right arm, too? Yikes!

I have photos of my broken left wrist, but my doctor opted for an external fixator instead of permanent internal metal. It was a horrific experience all the way around, but knowing what I know now I'm glad we went that route. I had metal plates and screws in my left ankle and they were nothing but painful trouble. Got it all taken out 18 months later and it feels 1000% better

I'll have to peruse my Theater of Pain for some appropriate photos for this thread:D

It's great to see you here, dirtlord  I hope you're liking that new 300 :)

You're right about that, Anthony. I'd rather hurt myself than see my guy hurting, that's for sure. I hope your friend heals up quickly and properly...but in the meantime get some photos so you can laugh about it later :)

I recently got a hold of all my x-rays prior to surgery #5. I thought I might be able to scan a couple but no joy. Anyone know a trick to get an X-ray scannable?? Background colored paper or something?

I dont know about scanning them in. I would try to scan it in as-is using the lowest light intensity :excuseme:
Taking digital photos of them works good.... see below.

My wife threw away my medical folder :banghead:, so I only have one xray from a crash back in Jan. 2008 at Hindsight MX. A local fast guy told me to wheelie into the whooops, drop the front tire after the 3rd whoop and then shift up. It sure sounded easy :excuseme:
Picture001.jpg
Also broke my thumb and 3 ribs.

I'm sure I've bought lots of new Porsche's for the ortho's where I've lived in the past. I'm kinda dum :D

Ouch! That looks painful!

I go to this place in Berkeley that houses lots of specialists. I'm on first name terms with the shoulder, knee, wrist, hand and casting/PT guy. Every time I go there I feel like Norm when he walks into Cheers :busted:

Just so you know... I think you rule! I know lots of ladies that ride, but none of them brag about injuries!

My Ortho always says the same thing..... "Thanks for the business. See you next time!". He's a damn mind reader!

His Porsche plates should say 'Pd4byMX'

mine has it's own webpage: http://www.motosapiens.net/brokenleg.html .

condensed version = head on at high speed, compound femur fracture, rode out to trailhead, gf drove to hospital, hospital was podunk and put me on a plane to real hospital where fixing occurred. Off dirt bike for 7 weeks of boredom. It sucked. I now take care to not get reinjured because I like riding my bike and I don't like getting hurt.

Unfortunately, the same gf/fiancee just broke the living crap out of her ankle on sunday, and so we spent sunday afternoon in the hospital in bend getting home-depot hardware installed into her leg. I'll post pics later. we only have the 'before' xrays right now.

Sumbiatch, I thought putting my knee back in place after dislocating it was bad. But, riding out two miles on a broken femur, Damn! Isn't it amazing though how shock comes into play. Thank God for the human mind to play games with us.

OMG .. I think I ll take up fishing ... I broke my hand last year and that was bad enough
Punched the ground - after a real big cartwheel - couldnt plate it as bone was shattered
took at least 6 months to get 80 % strength back in grip
Now ive got some of those gloves with knuckle dusters - and getting some proper hand protectors - good investment !!

Fair warning guys, Woodschick is holding back on you. If you really want to play this game with her, you better have a good injury resume, otherwise she'll make you look like, well, a little girl.
BTW, Tami isn't just a "lady that rides", she's a RIDER that just happens to be a lady. Well, a woman, anyway. There's lady in there, but get her in the dirt and she's somewhat less lady-like, but all rider. I've been riding off road for 44 years now, and most of my good friends over the years have been hard core riders, but I've never known anyone any more committed than Tami. Then to top it off, she found the near perfect mate in Eric, and the two of them sort of set the standard for a riding couple. I've been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with them over the last 9 years, and have loved every minute of it, except for that "bleeding brain torn groin muscle" thing in Idaho, that was pretty much not fun. Of course, Eric, my son Scott and I rode afterwards, and that was fun again...

This must be tim that had the head-on with me on president's trail? Funny how many stories those idaho trips lead to. Nothing bad really ever happens to me, yet I had a head-on with you, was along for tami's bike breaking in half, and then you and eric had to use ropes to haul my bike back onto the upper part of skunk creek.

regarding 'bragging about injurires', i'm embarassed about mine. Every one of them represents a serious mistake on my part. I'm not planning on having any more.
