• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tax'ed my left kick 610 today and took it for a blast it started fine and was running spot on felt really strong. Then as was on my way home slowing down from a long road after getting it up to about 90 it died. I got it started again rode on then in 3rd it felt like it was running out of fuel. So then I opened the second fuel tap on the left side got it started again and it ride home fine? It had about a quater of a tank of fuel the fuel is about 6 months old. I'm going to drain the tank remove and clean the filters on the taps and put new fuel in. My question is should both fuel taps be open?

I was told before on here that they should bothe be open as I had a similar problem, but what I think was my biggest issue was the float height was set too low in the carb and it was using fuel quicker than it could fill.

Reason for 2 fuel taps is to transfer fuel from one side to the other.
Can run out of fuel on main pitcock side and have fuel on the other side, won't run because it's out on that side.

Andy,

The fuel is too old, I read somewhere that fuel that is two weeks old that is not in a sealed container should be

discarded.

I drain as much from the tank as I can, I put this fuel in my car as the car has a large amount of fuel and this small

amount won't be a problem.

I drain the carby as well.

Fresh fuel makes starting easier!

Cheers, Dave.

This is so true especially of the Ducati igmition models. The older SEM stuff will easily start and run but not the newer Ducati stuff, it only likes fresh fuel. The Ducati ignitions also stall much easier.

I'll drain it tomorrow and put fresh in and take it for another blast. Fuel will last a long time to be fair but I can see it making a difference in a single cylinder. Think I'll gap the plug and clean it as well as I just put it in with out checking it. Last time I used it it was spot on.

I leave fuel in my seafood s all winter and they rock all summer, isn't a fuel tank considered a closed container , they are efi though, on my kx when I am wrapping up a ride I shut the fuel off on my why to the truck so the carb don't get sludged up incase I don't take it out for a while and never had a problem, good luck with your bike.

Check your ht lead it could be corroded or just making contact, check soark plug cap if its a resistor type usually 5k then swap out for non resistor type, filter then fuel, no reason it should be fine one minute then shot the next cover bases go to fuel next if not run for longer than 2+ month it can go bad otherwise its simples checks.

It has new plug lead and I made a new loom for it a few years ago. I'm thinking it ran low on fuel as it was very low and the small round tap on the left was shut. I only took it out for a quick blast as I tax'ed it. I'll drain the remaining fuel clean the tap filters then put new fuel in later today and report back

Didn't get time to ride the thing today but the fuel tank is off I'll remove and clean the filters tomorrow and put new fuel in it. I removed the plug to re-gap it and it was black! So it's been over fuelling so I moved the main jet needle up one slot.

Took it out today runs the best it ever has after cleaning the tank filters! And re gapping the plug / moving the main jet needle up one slot. Started really well also it doesn't pop and bang so much on over run. So it's not over fuelling like mad now. The small fuel tap on the left only needs to be open if the main tap is in the reserve position by the way! If the main tap is in the on position fuel can not flow from the left side of the tank to the carb. Now mines running spot on its cam chain time as I've no idea when it was last done!
