• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Beta, Beta, and more Beta!

..I love my Beta but still looking forward to having my 430 cr ready for trail riding too!!!.. racing ??? maybe.... I'll get to flashback to riding 32 yrs ago.. That is just not possible when I type that out but it is true .

Beta still builds KTMs motors in their plant. The dealer I was talking to yesterday said the only KTMs motors being built in Austria are the twins. It's not Beta design obviously, but they build them out and send them to Austria for the final build of each bike. And apparently they've been doing that for awhile now.

..but globalization and parts made by other companies and shared are just the norm for almost everything. I think one of the Beta small bore 4 stroke is a suzuki? or yamaha? kinda like everything. black and decker, Husky for that matter now that I think of it. It just depends on what model and part etc.

I am not a bike design expert, but I have the seat and tank off of my 250rr and notice that the frame back bone swoops down similar to a trials bike.
Maybe that is why it feels so good in rough technical areas.

Ah, I've seen those, but didn't realize they were also a lowering link. I think the height will be fine for me. I don't have too much worry on the TC in the woods as long as I keep moving. Only an issue when I get stopped in a tricky spot and lose my balance trying to get my feet down. But I do have some midget legs...just have to start practicing slow riding until I can stand on a bike not moving like a trials rider.

Not to fear, the stock Beta e-start hits every.single.time!

Woo hoo our local group ride crew is now up to 2 2013 Beta 300RRs one even has a plate! I think our crew is now scale tipped back to 2T bikes!! Back to the future! 10 years of 4T bikes for me and now my new bike will be a 2T (TE300 Husky).
