  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc best way to remove crank...360 kicker issues

justintendo

quick question...after splitting the cases on a 360, the crank stays in the lh case...does it need pressed out? kinda feels like it does..
im dealing with the dreaded 360 kicker issue...the idler gear that sits behind the clutch basket is destroyed along with the small drive gear on the back of the basket...the boss that the idler sits on is shifted and cracking..the allen bolt that holds the idler in place was loose....the rest of the trans and kicker assy looks great...has anyone rewelded this?

Just did the crank on my 2000 360 and had to press the crank out. I used a case splitting tool to press it out.

Can't help you with the other stuff but good luck.

no you can leave the crank in if the conrod is good, you can get access to all the kiskstart shaft with it in its just a little bulkyer, masking tape the conrod to the jug stud to stop it thrashing about.
p.s. kickstart issues it that the web cacked on the crank case or you just sheered the shaft?

i want to put in fresh mains as one of them has a tick of play...so i was wanting to get the crank completely out...the rod is good. yes the case is starting the crack and the boss for that idler is getting pushed forward....ruining the small gear on the back of the clutch basket...

right yeh just get a blow lamp and gentally heat the entire area around the main bearing keep going for as long as you get board as the ali will wick the heat away through the case, then either tap it out with rubber hammer or if you get lucky it may just slide out. dont pry with screwdrivers or get heavy with the hammer
