• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Best Quality Aftermarket Fenders for a 1980 390WR?

390wr Jon

Husqvarna

Any thoughts or past experience on the best aftermarket white plastic fenders for a 1980 390 WR?

Husqvarna-parts.com?
RTR-MOTO?
DC Plastics?

Thanks.

It depends on the plastic quality you really want. If you want OEM quality then Phillip at Husqvarna-parts.com is the only source of that level of plastic. DC Plastics does vacuum bagging rather than injection mold and you also get a lower level of plastic as well. I use DC Plastics for offroad use as I consider it for rider restoration only. I am not familiar with RTR-Moto, but if they do not have their own plastics, they likely carry DC.

An interesting option you found. I prefer Philip at Husqvarna parts. It makes a one stop shipping cost
for his plastic. It's great looking stuff. First class looks. And note the rear fender style looks like the original.

Of all things saved. The one bike I have here has original 83 to 86 rear fender stamped underside a
Husqvarna symbol. A true stock fender to compare. It looks new, not yellow.

Still have my original fenders, but there are no Husky logos underneath. Perhaps there were no logos for fenders in the 1980 model year.

The 1980 fenders did not have the Husky Logo on them. I don't think Husky started that until about 1983.

Yes it was that year. Just talking about true husky style. Some have a lip around edge.

We had many (maybe it was most?) 81/82's come through with a glossy front fender and a matte finish rear fender. Always thought that was weird, but perhaps they had different suppliers from time to time. Anybody else have that?

Edit: Oops. I see you're asking about WR. I'm talking about CR/XC matte rears.

Yes the 81/82 WR's originally had a matte finish on the rear fender and glossy on the front.

I bought the RTR fender kit for my 78WR. The repro Falk enduro rear was absolutely brilliant. Better than the original, great gloss finish and it fitted perfectly. It came with a standard copy front which I have not used (yet) as I already had a DC one on there. The front RTR is much better quality than the DC.
