  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking at getting back into riding the trails. I haven't ridden in quite a few years, but just bought my little guy a little 50 (even though he's only 18 months old and not ready to ride) and now I'm starting to get the bug. Its been about 8 years since I've ridden, and it was before the 4 stroke craze took off. I used to ride a kdx 200 and a kdx 250. I drove up to the local Husqvarna dealer yesterday to check out the bikes in person. All I can say is Wow. Very sweet. The only problem is they are a small dealer and don't do test rides. I'm pretty set on getting a TE but wasn't sure whether or not to go with the TE 310 or the TE 450. I would mostly be trail riding (with a couple buddies and eventually my son when he's old enough). I live in Michigan so the trails are pretty diverse, with everything from single tracks, to two tracks, fire roads, ect., and possibly the occasional trip to the sand dunes. I like the idea of the TE because they are street legal and would be nice to do a little riding around town, but are still a serious off road bike, which would be what I really want it for.

I'm leaning towards the 450 for the extra power, since I'm pushing 240 lbs, and there is no real difference in the weight of the bike. The dealer told me that there wouldn't be much difference between the two in the woods, but the power is pretty noticeable on the open trails and riding on the road. The difference in price is only $500, so I think it would be worth it.

As far as the price goes, they have 2009 models left overs in both the 310 and the 450. He told me he could do $6500 for the 310 and $7000 for the 450. Both prices are out the door including tax, title, and license. I've seen people on the site claiming to get them for cheaper in other states but wasn't sure if those were OTD prices. There are no other Husky dealers nearby and this place is reputable and has a good service dept.(I have a small tree service so the work on my Husky saws from time to time)

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance

That all sounds good ... Yep, bike have changed alot .. these 4t are still heavy but manageable ... They REV alot faster also then the 70s-80-90s ...They are easy to ride also ...you can go fast or slow on them ... Sort of like a street bike but it is really a dirt bike ...

The TXC models are more of the racer than the TE but the TE is street legal....

Any price U see out of town will cost probably 250-300$ extra for shipping 2 UR place also and there are some good deals out there ...

The 310 will pull you around I'm sure .... but U sound like a 450 guy to me :)

My buddy, a KX guy, had to admit a Husky chainsaw was the baddest he ever used after his quit and he borrowed a husky with a 30" or so bar on it ... :)

I'm a small person, and I have a TE 450. It'll do some singletrack, as well as the fire roads desert and highway. That's why I got the 450, so it could do a little of everything.

One cool thing on buying a bike from someone is quite often they have added alot to the bike and not ridden it much :) I always buy like this ....
