  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So I picked up a 1995 WXC360 today. Always wanted a 360 since I had my 99 WR250. Great bike always regret selling it. Have had plenty of dirtbikes since then but the only Huskys since are a pair of SMR510s.

Onto the the 360. Its a 1995, seen plenty of use, very tired. It started for me in just a few kicks. But it didn't take as much force to kick as I anticipated... assuming a very tired top end. Bike is all there, suspension is tight, but its ugly. Plastics beat and no good. Frame has been JB welded at the subframe bolt, JB weld at the coil mount, missing motor mounts. One fun problem is that you get shocked through the handlebars... something must be shorting to frame.

Bike came with another complete roller WXC360 minus motor unfortunately. Pretty much just bought the bike for the motor. What do you guys think, rebuild it or pluck the motor into a newer chasis?

Whats the parts availability for the bottom end of the 360?

If you have a newer chassis drop it in.

Plastics are $$$ but forks frame wheels arnt worth a bean. I would keep an eye out for 250 engine for the rolling chassis n rebuild the 95 with newer subframe tank seat n plastics.

Yeah if I was pursuing the motor in this chasis then I would look to swap subframe to at least 00-04 style. Crankshaft kit or rod still availabe?

Justientendo if you are interested in plastics message me.

Yup KTM con rod kit for 360/680 1997 135mm fit the code to look for is 54730015000 the box is very tatty so I may of miss typed.
The big end pin is a few mm shorter but I've had that rod in my 02 360 for a few years now and it's spot on. Yeah that's right my husky was part KTM before the take over

As for crankshaft not sure.

Awesome, that's good to know about the ktm rod. I assumed if the husky one wasn't available another could fit. Thanks for saving me the homework.

I've pics of my crank rebuild. Juicypips saved the day for me with the KTM rod tip. Thanks again, Jucypips!

Darrel I just read through your threads. Alot of good info I appreciate it. So with your install of the KTM rod, you did not have your head modified for squish, correct?

Still looking for a kickstand? If so message me.

Well you don't have to play with squish if your happy with it not working.
I on the other hand have mine @.55 thou.
Yes I had to have the head machined but I left the dome untouched.
The rod is a straight swap.

I guess I should have specified the dome shape. Thanks for the clarification!

I hope to have more time to play with it this week. Do a compression check, try to track down the cause of the voltage at the handlebars. Looking quickly I saw no wires chaffed or anything too obvious, but assuming the JB weld near the coil mount could be causing an issue.

May pull the motor and drop it into the other frame. But really need to focus on finishing up my Yamaha YZ300 first.
