  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Back to husky.....now what?

Hey everybody. Sold my KTM 350 to go back to husky. I've had three huskys in the past but the last was an 04. The biggest reason was the dealership that had always helped me out even when I wasn't on a husky. Bought a 2011 txc 250 and should be getting it next week. Anyway, what are your experiences with the bike, mods to do, ect? I'm a local A class hare scrambles guy. Thanks in advance.

IMO, JD fuel tuner, 12 tooth front sprocket and maybe a light weight Shorai (or other) battery. Nice light nimble bike with good mid and top end.

just out of curiousity whyd you sell the 350?

Sold the 350 because of a couple reasons. I personally like the power, or lack there of, of a 250f better. It's kind of like a 125 with traction, just ride it as hard as you can all the time. The 350 had a lot more than a 250. Also I'm planning on racing the season again and the contingency is awesome. Lastly was shop support, I deal with a great husky dealer and if I have to give my money to someone for bike stuff I'd prefer him.

I should mention I'm getting all the offroad guards, 12 point injector and jd tuned on it right away. Is exhaust worth it? Any other gearing change suggestions? I primarily ride east coast woods.

id sort the suspensoin before exhaust, but hey if you got the coin go for it! i thought they came with an akro slip on? whats on it standard? i reckon most of the time pipes are for show not performance/weight loss!

Hey Ive been racing TXC 250's out here on the West Coast in the WEST CHEC and D36 Enduro series and have had alot of great finishes. I still have my 12 point injector and ECU on order but I know that the FMF Q4 and powerbomb is a great set up. Adds a little to the low end and stilll revs great up top. The Procircuit Ive heard works well too. Suspension is a must! I had Joel from 707 suspension completely revalve both my bikes and there awesome. I would also be sure to change the stock footpegs to the original fastway F3, especially for East Coast riding where theres lots of wet ground! Theres a few other little mods to do for protection and reliability. I would wrap the oil line on the right side of the motor with a piece of rubber hose and small hose clamps. Spend some time and retape alot of the stock electrical and be sure to change all of the stock fuses. They have a tenency to go out for no reason. Stock gearing should not be a problem even for the tightest singletrack.

Can't add anything about set up etc as I have the 2010 TC250 but CONGRATS on your new Husky and welcome back

Im not sure what you ordered for offroad protection parts, but I run the MSR Radiator braces, the uptite aluminum skid plate, Husky hard parts carbon fiber exhaust guard, TM designs or BRP chain guide, MSR rear brake caliper carrier, and Cycra handguards.

And some other good aftermarket parts are to change to a lith ion battery (saves about 4 lbs!) and I run GPR V4 submount dampaners on my bikes. It really helps with the last bit of stability, even after having the suspension done.

The suspension will be getting done in march. I don't really have time right now. Going to nc next weekend as soon as I get the bike. Then my wife and I are going to Georgia to ride, watch supercross in Atlanta, race a hs and then some touristy stuff. I could be wrong but I thought the tc came with the akro and the '11 txc doesn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't even seen the bike yet. I also have a gpr on the shelf the I'll get around to putting on. I'm definatly concerned about suspension and handling before power but already had plans for that. Thanks.
