• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Awesome photo. Man, bike's have come a long ways over the last 27 years. 465's were scarey bikes.

Went from a Honda XL 175 my dad gave to this YZ465, that was a BIG learning curve.

a head of its time Motosportz proto-type neck safety brace.....ah no thats your hoodie.....great shot!!!

That really is a pretty big leap but from the looks of the photo you made the transition pretty well.

I was going to say the same thing. Looks like you really flyin'

nice shot! I thought you didn't ride MX? haha... I really like the open face and no visor too...good old days.

Nothing wrong with open face helmets. I raced in them for years and still like to wear them, although it's hard to find any dirt oriented open face helmets these days. Usually sported a weepul on the peak or the top of the helmet, like in this picture in 1976. Got my Jofa mouth guard and my Carrera goggles.

And to top it off I wore Levis with leather sewn on the thy area. My mom sewed in on there because i could wear out a set of Levis in a week slinging bails onto a flatbed. That was hard work, with many 12-14 hour days of it and I was in awesome shape. Those were the days. :)

sweet gloves!! I sported the old pudding bowl lid too btw...the only thing is, mine had a really cool 70's mural design.

Buddy of mine that was there the day this pic was taken and also on a YZ465 (but much nicer than mine) and I were just talking the other day about how simple dirtbike riding used to be. Get an old bike, toss some gas in it, find a helmet that kind fit and go have a great day. I spend more now on a helmet or boots than I did on the entire bike and setup back then
