  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Argh, stupid bike - cutting out

I have tried searching but comes back with lots of posts but none i can find similar to my own.

SMR510 2009 model, I have had the bike just over a week the bike starts and runs fine. As an example: I was out riding last night the bike just cuts out when either accelerating from stop or if i pull the clutch in and coast same again, last night within a period of 1hour it cut out around 7times. The bike is not in race mode so still has the lambda sensor in. If I install the so called *power up kit* will this eliminate the cut outs?

Many Thanks
Ian

how many miles?
Yes could be electrical- I'd check the coil connections.
The lambda does cause some very lean situations that could result in flameouts/cutouts at low rpms. I remember durring break in- my bike would cut out when comming to a stop at times which was due to the bike being too lean/ and tight (bike would cool down in long stretches). I did the "soft" break in so it saw alot of pavement then.
ANy reason you have not put it into power up mode?

I had this happening a couple weeks ago and I took the seat off and found the battery had moved out of its holder. Terminals were loose and probably touching the subframe here and there as it bounced around.

Does it happen when you ride through water?

My 250 had a coil that had the mounting lug pulling out and when water got it there it shorted out.

Thank you for the replys, I am pretty much set on it running to lean. The bike gets so hot even after a 10min journey, I have booked it in to have the sensor removed next week, and have it remapped (the shop advised that). I will double check the battery aswell and make sure it isnt that bouncing around.
