• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

APT SmartCarb

I've seen these types of carbs before. PSI and Boswell had some designs like this, but this one is adding the Lectron type needle tuning to the game. The others were a major pain to jet, but did work very well if you could keep it jetted right.

For the type of riding I do it just wouldn't be worth the effort. I think the stock Mikuni is a pain to keep jetted, so I doubt that I'd ever try one of these.

If they had the diecast model I'd give it a try.Lots of good info in that Gas Gas thread. They are talking about this over at KTM Talk too.Sounds like the solution to all the troubles that a carb can give and all the benifits of fuel injection.

http://www.powerapt.com/smartcarb.php Anybody have any experience with these. Saw that link posted on Thumpertalk and found this one while searching the net http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13471. At $775 it's a little pricey but if it does what it says, it seems like a deal. They have diecast models in the works that will be a bit cheaper, but they won't be out till next year.
You gonna get one? I am as soon as the diecast version comes out next summer.By then all the guy's that have bought the billet version should have good feed back on the net.

Honestly, my Mikuni works great for me. I do like the idea of not having to rejet and the claimed HP and torque gains. However, I need to get my suspension set up for my big butt before I spend any cash on a billet carb. I may give the diecast a try when they come out.

I just sent them an Email after reading 17 pages of talk and info on the GasGas site. If they have one to replace the stock Mikuni I'm going to give it a try on my 08 CRWB165 Husky :D.

I wait with baited breath ****************************************! I really want to see/hear the outcome as being a firm believer in fiddleing with every thing and nearly buying one myself this could well make my mind up for me

I'm still waiting on their reply to see if they even make one for the bike but if they do...I'll pull the trigger. I'll be sure to post up if it happens. BTW I fiddle with all my toys too..... WB165, TT Porshe, RM250, TC250, track loader, track excavator, F150, heck I even changed the exhaust on my Zero turn lawn mower :D.

Last carb I had sent from the US to Oz was AUD$42, It must be by priority post I'd say.

Yup, that was the clincher. Was looking forward to it too. Guess I have to keep stuffing around with the bloody Mikuni :banghead:

Kelley if they have one that fits my WB165 and after I get some rides with it if you want to give it a try I'll send it to you so you can run it some to see what you think. You have a lot more ride time with the WB165 and with both other carbs so you will be able to give a better assessment of the Smart Carb.

If a couple of guys from Oz want them buy them and send them to me and I'll package them up and I'll send several for $50 or whatever the REAL cost is.
