• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone know if a 125/144 engine bolts in a 10 or newer tc/txc/te frame???

I'm just curious has anyone, or does any one know if a 125/144/engine will bolt into the 4-stroke frame? Along with a tank change to!! Also silly question, has anyone put a 2-stroke 250 engine into a 09 up 125/150 frame (I know the chain and sprokets are on different sides! But hey a 401 AMC engine bolts right into a Gremlin!

I have a 2010 TC250 and 2009 WR125. The downtubes are different. The WRs downtube is shorter, with the cradle coming up to allow the expansion chamber to exit between the cradle tubes. Otherwise the frames look the same. I am sure engine mounts would need to be moved.

I have thought about installing a WR250/300 motor into one of these bikes, specifically, the TC if the motor ever goes bad. It would take significant work, but I think it is doable. If anyone wants to donate a motor, I will start the project next weekend:D. The reason why I have thought about placing the 250/300 into the TC frame is because my TC is green sticker. Plus, it is likely my TC motor will die long before the WR.

I will be doing the Wr 300 engine in a new frame as soon as i find the right deal on a frame.

Please post a running build thread. I would like to see the progression.

Wait a minute! If anyone will donate a low hour wr 250 engine I will start the project next week and show progress to!! And I'll retro the whole bike at the same time!!! I Kind of want to ride a 250 next year but want a 250 Husky with the new frame!!

I would like to see this aswell. Cram that 250 motor into a 125 frame.

But why do you need it in the newer frame style? Ergo's? Looks? 50mm Zokes?
Okay. I just answered my last three questions. Yes. Yes. And Yes.

I do not think there is any real reason to do it. Maybe you would lose about 5 or so pounds from a stock 250, but then again you may gain some of that back after reinforcing the downtube and cradle. The ergos on the new frame are really great, so that would make it interesting to ride.

I think the best thing about the conversion is how cool it would be, and the accomplishment of doing it. The only thing cooler is for Husky to do it for us.

Use a 2010 or up TC/TE/TXC 250 frame and flip the swingarm upside down. Will take some work. Reason to do it? Fantastic engine in the best handling frame made. Would be a massive upgrade to the WR250/300 IMHO. I can hardly wait to ride Tims.

I've been looking for a TC250 roller to do the WR250 swap for a while myself. I know it can be done with some serious fab work. If Husky could come up with the 449/511 in a short time frame, to use up excess G450X engine production.... they could have figured a way to engineer the 250/300 into the new style frame. Save me from buying a Husaberg TE250!

Would the 150 frame work???? And could a guy use a 96 250 wr engine with the 6 speed tranny???? I would rather do that because I could throw the 150 engine in and older Husky 125 for my 16 year old???? What about the swingarm from a 96?? Close or not even????? Let me know If any of this might work. Oh yea just :censored: with ya about the KTM for fun**************************************** The Huskys over Huskies thing I'm pretty serious about though!! Thanks if you have any input!!

The 150 has a smaller engine cradle and would take more mods I would think. The use of a WR swing arm would probably solve a lot of issues but do not know if there would be other things to change. It's all fab work.

If the new 250/300 2 stroke will not be available until 14 then Husky should SERIOUSLY think about doing a 2013 250/300 in the new frame with a bulk supply purchase of the Provini valves in it as well as putting the 6 speed back in. All parts are available to them very easily and why would they not want to make some $$ selling more of an updated unit? Win Win if you ask me and little to no R&D and as long as they do some research on howmany tomake without being left with leftovers when the new motor comes out it is all easily ezecutable.

Just my 2 cents
Joe

My 2 cents is that the WR has notoriously been a very slow seller and they are not spending a dime until there is a all new model. Do I agree, heck no but I bet that's the thinking. Anytime you add something to the line something else gets less effort / funding. You have a budget and a assembly line that can build a certain amount of stuff and have to choose what to build. They should have done the 250/300 in 09 when they redid the 125.

Well if it was updated with the parts they already have, it would sell better. They have already built a bike in the new frame with a 360 , so it wouldn't take much.

Build it and they will come!!

It is almost like someone at the top of BMW hates 2 strokes. But it started a long time ago, when the 6 speed was dropped then the wide ratio 5.
