• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone have a front brake caliper for a 1986 400?

After replacing the fork seals I was installing the caliper and one of the mounting bolts shredded the threads in the caliper. I'm looking for a replacement in decent, non-rusted condition. If anyone has a spare, I'm in the market.

Thanks,

Generally the calipers with pistons on both sides of the disc or rotor put design considerations on the spoke placement. The things that those brake pads fit is kind of a lot the way I recall.

Helicoils.

I had a gun that installed helicopter coils into the castings for the US Army 155 howitzers. Every part was helicoiled.

My point if the US Army trusts them I do too.

When assembling nuts, bolts, a good anti-seeze is your friend.

Recoil is a newer version of Helicoil that is a lot easier to work with and no special tools required.

helicoil or nutsert
makes sense, that caliper is much more suited for being a rear caliper than a front..
I have 1986 cr forks on my 430 wr that I'm racing tomorrow. I don't mind the single pot it's working really well with C&C products steel disc I have mounted to the 86 hub, maybe because the newer disc is lighter than the oem disc? calliper and disc are installed without float btw. The onboard computer says bike maxed out at 102mph at the last meeting so I'm happy the stopping power is sufficient

With limited experience, I've been weary about helicoils on brake components – a failure could give me a lot of damage. I spoke to 2premo and it looks like I'll be upgrading to a WP USD front end of which I hear everything is much better than the '86.
