• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone done a front end swap:Marz to WP from KTM?

Sandgroper

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have access to a set of WP front forks from a 450 Ktm. Just
wondering if any fellow riders have done a front end swap from marzocchi
to WP. Im assuming you need the entire front (wheel, brakes etc) the only
item I see being a problem is the bearing headset.
I have grown to lov the zokes but this business of blowing seals every 6mths
is becoming a headache.

I had bad leaky seals, long story. I wanted to change from the 50mm zokes to the 48mm kyb. Would have need the forks and new triple clamps. Plus the bar mounts etc. Very expensive exercise. In the end my seals have been great since putting extra tension on the inner seal spring and dust wiper spring. I even clean the wipers every now and the which helps minimise ingress of dried mud film.

Thanks for the reply D. How did you put extra tension on the inner spring? shorten and rejoin it or put something inside the spring coil?

Yes, shorten and rejoin. You may be able to do it without cutting it by overlaying it on itself, but if you don do it right you dont get even tension all the way around the arc.

According to the All Balls website, its theoretically possible due to the bearing sizes. I had a set of KTM forks and triples sitting around from a partout and tried it on my TXC 250 to find that the KTM stem is not long enough.

Somebody in your neck of the woods did a swap to Showas with some machined collars and machined out axle holes. I'll see if I can find the thread. I've been thinking about doing that swap also for the same reason...leaky leaky leaky seals.

if you heat up the alloy lower section you should be able to drop the stem out. Take it to a machine shop and they should be able to make a new one.
