• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any shorties have the new TE250 low version?

Well I can't believe it. I just discovered the new 2012 TE250 Low. Back in 2008, I desperately wanted a TE250, but after sitting on one and having my feet dangle like 6" off the showroom floor and not being able to compress the suspension at all with my weight, I gave up on the notion. I ended up with a completely uninspiring Honda CRF230L, which I grew bored with immediately. I don't know why I didnt just consider lowering a TE at the time.

Well I didn't forget about Husky's, and I got a SM610. I've been really happy with it. Then I replaced the CRF230L with a KLX250S. Still not a TE250, but a MAJOR improvement over the Honda. And just recently I got a 351 big bore and an oversize IMS tank for it. Finally got it set up like I wanted, then I read about the new TE250 Low in the latest issue of the Husky magazine! Great!

Well I'm headed on a trip this week for Christmas, and I'm going to stop and look at one. But I would have to sell one bike to get one, so I don't know. But I might be able to talk the better half into selling his 230L, taking my KLX, and letting me get the new TE! Or I could sell my 610 and use the KLX351 for the occasional trip. I just did a small trip on it...not as good as the 610 by any means, but doable.

So anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts/frustration with some of you that might be able to sympathize with my delimma! :D So do any of you have one yet? At 105 lbs. (heavier with gear), is the suspension still likely to need a revalve to work for me, or does the lower suspension come with settings for lighter riders like me? And pics would be great if anyone has one.

I rode one at press day. They are quite a bit shorter than the "regular" height ones. The suspension will still be set up for a heavier rider though. Valving will be smoother and more progressive than earlier models. The bike will feel quite peppy compared to comparable sized Japanese bikes.

I kind of figured the valving would be for heavier riders, but I was hoping. I suppose most anything would need some modification for my weight though. My KLX works pretty well for me, but they're known to be suspended for lighter riders. My SM610 on the other hand felt like it had no suspension when I fiirst got it. I've managed to get by with just swapping the rear spring, but it's still pretty harsh. I would love to have a bike with properly tuned suspension. That's great you got to ride one. I'm not sure if most dealers let you test them or not. I had my 610 shipped, so I never rode one before buying one.
