  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Whats up?
I have been riding offroads all my life, racing social class offroad + enduro on and off since I was 13. A little bit of motard racing too.
Past offroad bikes QR 50, YZ 80 , YZ 125, CRF 450 R, KTM 950 SE.
Current bikes '13 WR 450 (Rally) , '12 KTM 990 R and last but not least 2016 Husky FE 501.
I have always been a big Husky fan but up until recent years parts and dealers were scarce in South Africa.
As I said my WR is a rally bike with which I have been doing cross country navigational rallies as a privateer (malle moto) since 2014 and it has served me very well. My mates all race with the local Husky dealership in Cape Town so I know all the guys there. They also know that I want to build a new rally bike for next year so they mailed me two weeks ago to mention that the 2016 stock is in the showroom and selling lighting fast.
So I took the plunge and transfered the money and now I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new 501.
One problem ,I wirk offshore and will only be home end of October to see my new bike. Needless to say I cannot wait.
I will try and keep you updated with the progress of the rally conversion. Anybody looking for a WR :-)

I have lots of questions...
