• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Can you get him to do a write up on his experience?
Am interested on the size carb he used and if he had any fitting issues. Also the difference in power delivery before/after.
I have mates with CR480's and CR450's from that era.
Pics would be great as well.

Working on it. It fit perfect because we built it to fit. He said it dropped right on and ran perfect. WAY Ezer to start, smoother and more power, crisper response. Same with my 83 XC500 and every other bike I have put a Lectron on.

here are the pix and info. I was mistaken, we built this for his Husky 430 but he tried it on his CR480 and really liked it...

"on the install... as I ordered the carb for my Husky 430, and sent you measurements off a Mikuni VM38 that came off a 430 ( I was using it on the Honda CR480...clear ? ) I shoulda ordered the carb a few mm longer overall. ( most likely on the air cleaner side as that is the side that appears to be short in photos ) { I ordered it @ 100mm}

as far as performance... still hardish to start cold..warm is a BREEZE compared to the Mikuni... only two or three kicks warm. off idle is much sharper than the Mikuni, and cleaner from mid to top end.
I had to lean the power jet out from as delivered one and a half turns.

I am running Sunaco 112 leaded , Spectro Golden @ 32 :1 motor had prob 3hrs on fresh top end before I put Lectron on....

No problems with cable routing / length whatsoever.... I am using a Emglo gunner gasser from DC Plastics... cable came with it."
